In a world where everyone is so over exposed, the coolest thing you can do is maintain your mystery.
I’ve learnt that you don’t have to post it to prove it, and please don’t fool yourself because most people aren’t who they ‘post’ to be. I’ve been around it all. The most superficial people in a superficial world that they created themselves. It doesn’t exist. It’s created. It’s a game.
Being famous on social media is like being rich in monopoly.
So from now on I’ve made a promise to myself that my best moments of my life won’t make it to social media. Not because I’m going to stop posting all together but Because it’s those inbetween moments, those moments that you don’t capture that mean something. Spent with someone you love or even alone.
I’ve realized that offline is the new luxury and in a world of algorithms hashtags and followers it’s so important to know the true importance of human connection. To travel and tell no one, live a true love story and tell no one, live happily and tell no one, people ruin beautiful things and there’s no need to post your life away.
I’ve started realizing this all so much more being out in the open world where social media is ‘everything’. But let me tell you. It’s not. And I couldnt count on my fingers how many times I’ve heard people say that to me. I urge you to not forget to live your life! Your real one ! Without having your phone. yes social media is fun, to some of us it’s a job or a way of life. But that doesn’t mean you can let it control you or make you compare your life to others. Social media has always been a focus of mine, because that’s the way the world is going and to have a positive voice in a world which isnt so positive anymore has always been my goal. But there’s a fine line between it all.
All my life I’ve been brought up in my career to think that social media is everything. And yes, Social media has done wonders for my career and my life, my confidence and meeting people who are some of my best friends today.
But I urge you to not compare your real life to someone else’s controlled online content. Because it’s not real. And that’s where it becomes misleading. Ever heard the saying ‘fake it till you make it’ yup it’s real. It’s a very real thing. Behind the scenes it’s nothing glamorous. Behind the scenes we all have stuff going on. But ofcourse no one’s going to post about the bad times. Only the good. No ones lives are perfect every single day. That’s the truth. But we all hide behind social media.
I’m starting to realize that life is so much better when people don’t know what you’re up too. Work in silence and let your success be your noise. Don’t give them the privilege of knowing everything about you. Just because it’s not posted on social media doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Quietly progress.
A little secret… The less you reveal, the more people can wonder.
And Just remember, the grass always looks greener on social media. Always! Don’t compare or compete with what seems to be online. You won’t ever win.
So as for me, I don’t know about the rest of you but I think the world would be a much better place if we all did less scrolling and more living.
